NORMS FOR THE ELABORATION OF CITATIONS AND BIBLIOGRAPHICAL REFERENCES
The citation and referencing model in the publications of the Revista Costarricense de Orientación (RCO, by its acronym in Spanish), is the one used by the American Psychological Association (APA), seventh edition in English.
There are two citation formats: paraphrasing and direct citation. Each of these is characterized below:
- Paraphrasing: A paraphrase restates another's idea (or your own previously published idea) in your own words.
- Direct citation: This type of citation reproduces words literally from another work or from your own previously published work (American Psychological Association, 2020). Here are some specifications about this citation format:
- Short citation (less than 40 words).
- Long citation (more than 40 words).
In the case of personal communications, such as: interviews, emails, text messages, telephone conversations, letters, classroom, or recorded conferences, among others; they should be cited only in the text and will not be included in the list of bibliographical references.
The Editorial Committee of the journal invites you to download the norms for the elaboration of citations and bibliographical references for the preparation of articles.
